DAN SERRANO ANNOUNCES HIS CANDIDACY FOR COUNTY COMMISSION

Campaign Kick-Off Slogan “Let’s Get To Work”

On Sunday, January 31st at Cocina Azul (formerly the Sunshine Café), Dan Serrano will be kicking off his campaign for the open seat of Bernalillo County Commission in District 1.  The kick-off will be held from 1:30 to 3:00 pm.  Cocina Azul is located at 1134 Mountain Road, near the corner of 12th and Mountain.  Dan and his campaign staff have been working hard since the latter part of 2009, and this event will serve as the official launching of a coordinated effort among his supporters.

As a long-time activist and community leader, Dan Serrano hopes to bring his diverse experience to the County Commission.  A small business owner, former police officer, and chairman of the Albuquerque Westside Chamber of Commerce, Dan believes in practical economic development and the growing need to combat the crime in New Mexico communities that makes it hard for business to thrive.  Mr. Serrano is focused on his guiding theme for the campaign: “Putting our community to work”.

Among the many roles he has played over the years, Dan is the husband of April Serrano and a father of three, with another baby on the way.  “My children are the primary motivation for everything I do,” says Serrano, who is looking at ways to fix problems in New Mexico schools.  As the recession worsens in Bernalillo County, Serrano notes, “people need to get back to work now to jumpstart this economy.”  He adds, “A safer community and an educated workforce attract business to New Mexico.  We have to invest in ourselves to create long-term opportunities.”
