When Dan Serrano was a reserve police officer, he saw the destructive effects crime can have in our communities.  Property crime alone can suffocate local business and persuade outside business to look elsewhere when searching for new places to set up their operations. 

Dan believes that gang activity, which currently accounts for 50% of the crime in Albuquerque, is one of the greatest threats to our safety.  He has championed the proposed NM Gang Task Force that would have the ability to direct resources to target specific, known gang operations in our state whose continued existence will only further endanger our communities. 


Dan also believes that keeping our children from becoming involved in gangs through youth and after-school programs is a crucial component of stopping this growing problem.  By utilizing public-private partnerships in a combined effort, taxpayers can avoid shouldering the entire burden of confronting this growing threat.
